When should I attach the indirect and direct object pronoun to the end of a verb? As far as I know, when a teacher does an exam or a test to his/her pupils, in Spanish we say "tomar un examen". This depends on the point of view: because on the other hand, the student should say "dar un examen": "La maestra toma un examen a los alumnos"; "Los alumnos dan un examen". |

Where does the alternate meaning for “mateo” come from? It could be interesting to know if RAE is right about the regions where these meanings are used. Before writing this answer I thought that mateo was only used in Chile. In the case of Argentina, perhaps it's used in Cuyo and the northern Argentina (because of the alleged Quechua origin of the word). |
