“Po” for “pues” - anywhere else but Chile? Chileans don't use "po" as a contraction, it's more of a meaningless sound that gets randomly (to me) inserted into phrases. It's similar to how Malaysians use (or at least used to use) "la". For example, you might here "sí po" or "ya po, apúrate!" |

How can I distinguish between “girlfriend,” “fiancée” and “bride”, which are all “novia”? FWIW, Chileans use the word pololo/a to mean boyfriend/girlfriend and novia implies a higher level of commitment (closer to fiancée). |

American style TV shows in Spanish Although it is a good suggestion in general, I speak enough Spanish to carry on conversations, I just have trouble following them at full speed (which is why I'm looking for ways to practice listening). |

American style TV shows in Spanish @NathanGreenstein: I respect that, it's something I've been looking for so I figured it was worth a shot to ask. There's some precedent for list styles question on the original StackOverflow site in the beginning. |

American style TV shows in Spanish @Flimzy: You're right, this is a bit of a list question (as I pointed out in small text), and they are generally difficult to answer. I had trouble finding Spanish language shows in this format and I'm hoping I'm not the only one looking for such things. |

How to translate the idiomatic expressions “I wish!” and “You wish!” I believe the second use of You wish is meant to be sarcastic. So in the case of Si es lo que quieres (If that's what you want), you'd want to say the opposite of that. |

American style TV shows in Spanish I have not; however I'd be interested in the cultural aspect of it as well as the language part. I also have kind of a short attention span so a half hour show would be the sweet spot. |
