I am a software engineer with quite a lot of experience in C++, both in Unix and Windows platforms. Recently I have started working in C# and .NET.

comment Nombre del símbolo # en varios países
En instrucciones de sistemas automáticos telefónicos en España, la tecla se llama almohadilla. Por ejemplo, para oír sus mensajes, pulse almohadilla.

comment ¿En qué países la palabra “coger” tiene connotaciones sexuales?
Seguramente conoces ese chascarrillo sobre un español que pregunta en Argentina dónde puede coger el autobús, y le contestan: como no sea por el tubo de escape...

comment What is the proper way to get someone's attention?
I disagree with your señora / señorita recommendation. Nowadays, at least in Spain, señorita is considered quite old fashioned or even sexist (you haven't got a specific word for an unmarried men, after all), unless for a very young woman. Señora is considered the neutral form, equivalent to señor.

comment “Just” in Spanish
No tengo ni idea means, more or less, I don't know at all, so it is more emphatic than just No sé. Other suggested constructions, in my opinion, are unusual or convey a strong annoyance (rather than being maybe a little annoyed, os OP said).

comment Translation of “It is important to do it” in Spanish
@guifa Yes, it could make sense, but it means quite a lot of context. It would mean It is important in order to do it.

comment When should I use the word 'yo' in a sentence where the verb conjugation already shows that I am the subject?
Additionally, and in line with the current examples: Yo leí la revista means that I read a few pages in the magazine, not necessarilly all of them. But Yo me leí la revista would mean that I read it cover to cover.
