Ingeniero Informático. Ayudar a otros a aprender español me ayuda a reflexionar sobre mi idioma, y de paso, me ayuda a refrescar y aprender inglés.

comment Do mi and mío have different connotations?
@tchrist I have never heard "ésta es casa mía" in Spain, not it daily use nor in literature. Probably a couple of centuries ago or before, but never nowadays. We only say "esta casa es mía" or "ésta es mi casa".

comment How did “asistir” and “atender” become opposite of their cognates in english?
@Paul not only Spanish, but the roots of these words in Latin and how they evolved in different languages. I find it very interesting.

comment How did “asistir” and “atender” become opposite of their cognates in english?
Depending on the context, "assist" is "asistir" (help) and "attend" is "atender" (take care of). Probably this is a good question for Linguistics.SE.

No sé si he entendido bien el último párrafo. ¿'attendre' y 'assister' es como en inglés o como en castellano?

comment How to say something is “annoying” in Spanish?
@TomAu I guess that's why we have "community wiki" option, to improve an answer given by different users.
