Spanish Language & Usage Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for students, teachers, and linguists wanting to discuss the finer points of the Spanish language. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Is it possible to compare Aramaic to Spanish? If so, what are the differences and what are common? I have Spanish at school, and when I saw Passion of the Christ, I recognized lots of words. Is it only the vocabulary that is a bit common, or does the grammar also have things in common?

I really want to learn more about this! Thanks!

That may sound stupid but are you sure the words you recognized were not latin? – Laura Apr 12 '12 at 18:41
Ahh, they are indeed. Hahah... – Friend of Kim Apr 12 '12 at 18:58
