Is there a common Spanish word for the English "baking" (as in using the oven to make cookies, bread, cakes, etc.)? If not, what is the best way to describe the activity (when it's not known exactly what food is being made)?

hornear is the verb to bake. With that you can conjugate whichever form you want. – Flimzy Jan 10 '12 at 6:28
This appears to be asking for a simple dictionary translation, so I have closed the question. If you are asking for some subtly that is not addressed by such a translation, please feel free to modify the question to make this clear, then flag for moderator attention to have it reopened. – Flimzy Jan 10 '12 at 6:40
@Flimzy: Fair enough, I only asked because WordReference doesn't have a straightforward definition and a conversation with a native speaker implied there wasn't a simple translation other than mentioning the type of food you were baking. – jrdioko Jan 10 '12 at 15:01
It does seem to have a more straight forward translation of bake. – Flimzy Jan 10 '12 at 16:22
